We strongly believe After School programmes are a cornerstone of parenting practice that encourages children in gaining leadership and social skills. It is at this stage in their lives that they are able to identify the talents and gifts within themselves.
Our Chief Executive, Mr Isaac Agbosu, a seasoned Football Coach has been able to identify the talents within some of the local schools.
In order to provide ample opportunities for the children we will be establishing football programmes to develop the talents he has
discovered.
There will be a considerable amount of developed skills with all these activities, such as; Team building, Discipline, Leadership, Social skills, Communication, Stamina, and Confidence.
This could become a gateway to progressing to National and International level.
"Our social welfare system is so much more than just charity. Everyone must help, whether you are rich or poor. Everyone must have the belief that there’s always someone in a much worse situation than I am, and this person I want to help as much as possible".
Martin Luther King
PROVISION OF FOOD
We plan to introduce wholesome nutritious meals daily and continue to help the current Caregivers, and the Parents with the fantastic work they do.
EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT
Evidence suggests that considerable levels of mental health problems exist among children and adolescents in sub-Saharan Africa. One in 7 children and adolescents have significant difficulties, with 1 in 10 (9.5%) having a specific psychiatric disorder. (Jama Pediatrics)
Mental health is a taboo subject in Ghana and therefore most households with mentally ill persons hide them for fear of discrimination and ostracism from their communities.
Expressing your emotions is regarded disrespectful and children are usually subjected to physical abuse as a result.
Mental Health and Physical Health are inseparable. Mental Health if not treated will lead to illnesses and consequently early deaths.
The Watch Foundation is extremely committed to providing interventions within the community especially in the schools to help identify and improve adequate child and adolescent mental healthcare.
SUPPORT FOR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS
Parents or Caregivers are often confused with cultural differences in how discipline is defined and enforced.
The Caregivers are somewhat sometimes victims themselves due to generational trauma from the old tradition.
To ensure the continuity of care we will provide aftercare support scheme tailored to each child to involve Child Therapists and Family Counsellors especially for the Maltreated children and their Caregivers.
MENSTRUAL HEALTH MANAGEMENT
Girls often face difficulties during menstruation including access to Sanitary pads. This can be a barrier to their education as they are forced to skip school due to this lack.
We are organising menstrual health information sessions to the young Girls and ample supplies of Sanitary Pads.
We therefore seek your help in any which way you can.
HEALTHCARE CLINICS
We are partnering with Community Nurses in providing Mobile Clinics for the community as a whole. We will be educating and creating awareness on health issues and helping with First Aid supplies, Over the Counter Medication, and Menstrual Pads
During our visit to the local schools we noticed the lack of play equipment and how this lack affected the children.
This project is already underway in installing a recreational playground which includes Footbal pitches, basketball hoops, swings, seesaws, stationary spring-mounted animal features, rider- propelled merry-go-rounds, climbers, slides, trampolines and physical fitness devices.
Our Team led by our Co Founder Mr Agbosu arrive at Lolonya on the 8th August 2022 to install Trampolines, Soccer Tables, See Saws, Footballs and treat
